Happy Fat Day

Jayson and Jaqui hatched a plan to only eat ONE Thanksgiving dinner this year - they got both sides of the family together in Baltimore for a big feast. We enjoyed warm weather (nearly 70 degrees) and a fantastic sunset from the rooftop deck.

With seventeen of us around three tables, we took turns expressing thanks for something -- as it turns out we were all grateful for someone: Jaylin :-), but we were also glad for many other things including Clay's self-proclaimed exceptional ability to drive, along with his modesty. Jaqui's mom gave a prayer and we all dug in with enthusiasm.

Food selections came from both hemispheres. Jaqui's parents had never eaten sweet potatoes and they loved them, after dinner was over I swapped the leftover sweet spuds for some tamales and some sort of fabulous potato chicken salad (no Jaqui I'm not going to try the Spanish ...!). Jaqui talked her parents into trying the "salsa" (gravy) on their mashed potatoes instead of butter, salt and pepper - they loved that too.

Happy Thanksgiving all - glad to see the Maine and California pictures. Gratitude is the prelude to happiness.

Looks like a fun day!

Is Nate in a sling???

Is Joe eating a turkey drumstick???

It is hard to believe that you could fit all those people and all those tables into your skinny house but it sounds like a lot of fun.

It was so much fun. We did have to work hard to fit everyone in. We were actually expecting two more, but Jon got sick and Gabrielle (Cathy's beau) was with his family. But we seated eight around the big table, four at the bar and then brought the cafe table down from the deck and into the living room.

Joe grabbed the drumstick from Papi Oscar, but Nate is not in a sling, his knee hurts, but no other injuries or complaints.

Ah, maybe that is just a pillow in front of him.
