Auntie Kathy

We're sitting with Auntie Kathy's room at the University of Utah Hospital. Jenny and Amy are here taking great care of her. Auntie Mary drove up from St. George and is staying with Grandma. And I guess I'm here to blog.

Auntie doesn't want a photo of her face because she doesn't like the way her hair looks and hates the oxygen tube in her nose. So here's an edited version for you... just so you know, other than a little goose egg on her forehead she looks really good.

They just got her up and she walked around the room, then Jenny washed and styled her hair and brushed her teeth. So she's doing much better.

Yesterday she was pretty incoherent after the surgery. They'd given her a self administered pain medication, where she'd push a button anytime she felt any pain. They took that off this morning and she's much more coherent, but feeling much more pain. The break of her humerus bone is giving her the most trouble.

She's had a bunch of visitors. Amy's kids and Roy dropped in yesterday and we took a photo. They loved the fact that there was a crane right out her hospital window (the hospital is undergoing major renovations).

All her skiing buddies came in yesterday. Valerie doesn't ski. Fawna and Keith Knight, The Youngberg's, Scott Olsen (who was right next to her on the hill when she fell), Tom Tacovie, Mark Gustesen, and more (Auntie fell asleep before I got all the names out of her.)

She was skiing good. She can't believe she fell, she caught something and went down and just started rolling and rolling. She said her shoulder hit and then hit again and again. "It was horrible." She said.

We talked to the case and discharge manager today, but she couldn't tell us much about what's next. She did give us a list of skilled nursing facilities for us to check out. She'll need at least a week (probably more) of time with round the clock help until she can eat, use the bathroom and control her pain better.

Amy wrote that on the board to make sure the hospital staff would remember to scratch Kath's nose and help her drink her liquids. Both very hard to do with no use of your arms.

I have changed the rules a little bit this year to favor the upsets. When you make a pick the seed is multiplied. Each first round game is worth a point plus the multiple of the seed. So if you pick a #1 seed to win then you get 1 point if they do win. If a #12 seed wins then you get 12 points. This is only for the first round.

Sea World Pictures

I finally got around to uploading all of my pictures from Sea World.

Thirsty???

As you probably know from national media Georgia is having a severe drought. The drought actually has effected the whole southeast but the media has chosen to focus on atlanta. Anyhow I am getting ready to fly back to GA from LA and I checked the weather and cracked up at this image. Good luck staying dry in GA today!
We have been praying for rain and our prayers have been answered so far. We have recieved more rain so far in march than we did all last march.
