Arizona Fun

Well we had a great weekend having Charlie and Grandma and my Mom come to town. Friday night we went to the temple it was so awsome, Uncle Doug was able to do Uncle Brent's temple work. After the temple we met up with Charlie at a really yummy Mexican food resturant, sorry I don't have any pictures of that. Then Saturday we met up at the Scottsdale train park, Kendall and Bryant missed out because Kendall was not feeling well but we all had a fun time and it was so good to be together. Thanks Charlie for brining Grandma down, your a great person!

Whos in?

So the big spud lottery is over and yesterday they sent out emails telling everyone who got in and who did not....so who made it in? Dan, Kristy, Zach and myself did not receive emails so we really don't know one way or the other.

So did any of you make it?

Fond Farewell

As you see from the following pictures Logan's farewell yesterday was a very joyous event. I hope they call me on a misson .... little David with "BIG" Logan.

Zach and Logan sitting. If they had been standing you'd see that Zach is almost as tall as his brother.

Happy as can be are we three!

Big sister sending her little "Big" brother off in the Lord's work

Two bookends for their "little" Great Grandmother

Logan with his mom, step dad, step brother and brother Gregg ... MaKayla and Zach had left for a few minutes.

Logan talked about being a good shepard in his sermon ... Great Grandma commented that he sounded more like a returning missionary than a departing one. We all agreed.

6' 5" Logan makes the rest of us look pretty short ... if Gregg had been standing you'd be able to see that he is taller than his dad and much taller than his grandpa.

He's ready, willing and wanting to get going!

Happy NEW YEAR!

Here's another one of those "had to be there to believe it" moments of my life... experiencing the Rose Parade live and in person with Aunt Kathy.

Mom always got up early to watch it as a child, and I remember joining her... mostly begrudgingly early in life, but later I learned to love the tradition. Being there and seeing it first hand is something I'll never forget!

We left her house AFTER it had begun (I was horrified we'd missed it!) and she drove us the 45 minutes from Yorba Linda to Pasadena, and found ROCK STAR parking within a few hundred yards of the parade route (which she seemed completely unamazed by regardless of the hundreds of thousands spectators who mostly arrived hours and HOURS earlier). We then walked just a few blocks to "her" spot along the parade route... unsurprisingly the homeowners not only knew her but were also glad to see her and offered us a premium curbside viewing location. To this day I don't know which was more amazing... the parade, or the fact that she had found the perfect parking spot and viewing location.

I'd seen the parade (as mentioned before) for years, but until you see it first hand... you'll never believe how amazingly beautiful it all is. The thing that amazed me the most was the horses, something I've always poo-pa'd at local parades. The flower's adorning the horses necks and saddles put every wedding bouquet I'd ever seen to shame. AMAZING!

I'll never forget the time I saw it live.

Tonight I'm going to bed early tonight so I can watch it live albeit from 1,000 miles away, and I'm probably not alone...

Happy New Year Everybody!

XO,
Charlie
